Alok Mohan Promoted as ADGP, Sent Abroad for Advanced Training Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Alok Mohan, who served as Inspector General of Police, (Western Range), Mangalore from August 2010 to December 2011 has been promoted as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Recruitment and Training, Bangalore. He took charge of the post on January 2.
Alok Mohan was transferred from Mangalore last month and Pratap Reddy was appointed as his successor. He was not given any post at the time of transfer.
Now, the state government has announced his appointment as the ADGP.
Alok Mohan, who takes the credit for the reduced crime rate in Mangalore during his stint as IGP, has been one of the most admired top police officers in the region. His 'talk less - act more' principle helped him in controlling communal disturbances as well as other kinds of crimes in the Western Range.
The 51-year-old, 1987 batch IPS officer is considered as one of the most upright  police officers in the state.
Alok Mohan is now leaving for LKY School of Public Policy, University of Singapore and Kennedy School of Governance at Harvard University, USA for one year, to earn the prestigious Masters in Public Management Programme.
There are only four senior civil servants deputed by the government of India for this year-long course. The four officers are Alok Mohan, Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, secretary (tourism), Andhra Pradesh, Sanjeev Ranjan,  joint secretary (ministry of agriculture), government of India, and T K Anil Kumar, IAS, director (census), Bangalore, Karnataka.
They will be part of a select group of 25 senior civil servants from different countries. The officers will spend 6 months in University of Singapore and 6 months at Harvard University in Boston, US.
These officers will be exposed to world class Public Management Techniques which they can apply to improve the public management in different areas in the Government in India. They will also be attached to different ministries and departments of Singapore for 6 weeks during their stay there, and will have a first-hand experience of the working of the Singapore government and public service.
Alok Mohan is the first senior police officer from Karnataka to be selected for this course. He has also been on other international assignments like International Police Task Force of the United Nations Peace Keeping in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Senior Command Course of the British Police where he was with the Scotland Yard Police and London City Police, Advanced Management Programme of Maastricht University, Netherlands and Administrative Staff College of India.
